OPENING for a POSTDOC (2 years) in COMPUTATIONAL
GEOMETRY at the TU Eindhoven (the THE PROJECT ---------------------- An experimental analysis of multi-functional geometric data
structures Data structures play an important role in applications, and
researchers in computational geometry have developed many intricate geometric
data structures. Unfortunately, these structures are not very versatile: each
structure usually can answer only one specific type of query for one specific
type of input data. In a typical application, however, one needs a
multi-functional data structure: a single data structure that can handle
several types of input objects simultaneously, and that can answer various
different queries. In a recent project we are exploring multi-functional data
structures from a theoretical point of view. The postdoc will contribute to
this line of research and complement it with experimental research. WE ASK ------------- Candidates should have a PhD in computer science on a topic
from computational geometry. They should also have experience in, and at least
be interested in, implementing and experimenting with geometric algorithms and
data structures. HOW TO APPLY ------------------------ Send a CV with a list of publications, with an accompanying
letter, to prof. Mark de Berg (mdberg@win.tue.nl). ==>> Please send in your application BEFORE MARCH 1,
2006. MORE INFORMATION --------------------------------- The Algorithms Group at TU Eindhoven is a large and strong
group focusing on computational geometry. To learn more about the group, please
visit our web pages: http://www.win.tue.nl/algo/ If you want to know more about the project or job
conditions, please contact prof. Mark de Berg (mdberg@win.tue.nl). |
