The department Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University
is looking for an
Assistant Professor in Game and Media Technology
The Center for Geometry, Imaging and Virtual Environments performs research
and offers the master program Game and Media Technology on topics such
as game design, game engines, 3D modeling, multimedia, motion and
manipulation,computational geometry, and geographic information systems.
Both fundamental and application oriented research is performed, with an
emphasis on algorithmic aspects.

The position of assistant professor focuses on geometric modeling and its
application in gaming, animation, and virtual environments. It consists
of 50% research and 50% teaching. You are expected to perform independent,
original research at an international level. You will teach courses both
in the master program Game and Media Technology, and in the bachelor program
in computer science offered by the department. You are expected to supervise
master students and PhD students in your research domain.
Candidates should have a PhD in computer science. Scientific creativity and
productivity must be shown by publications in international journals and
conferences, within the indicated area. Candidates preferably have teaching
experience.
The position will be for a period of four years. The salary is in scale 11
of the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities, see
http://www.vsnu.nl/web/show/id=45895/langid=43/. The salary is supplemented
with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 2% per year. In
addition, we offer a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave,
facilities for child care, flexible employment conditions in which you may
trade vacation days for extra compensations. Conditions are based on the
Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities.
