This is a reminder that the deadline
for nominations for the Computational Geometry Steering Committee is this week:
Thursday, July 6. (In my previous call, I accidentally wrote Thursday, July 3 –
my apologies for the inconvenience. Below is the Call For Nominations with
corrected deadline.) Note that you may nominate
more than one person. -- CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR CG
STEERING COMMITTEE Dear CG Community, You
may recall that the current Computational Geometry Steering Committee was
elected in August 2003 for a term of three years. The committee coordinates the
annual ACM Symposium on Computational Geometry (SoCG), e.g. by appointing its
PC and Video chairs, it conducts the business meeting at SoCG, it serves as
liaisons to other organizations and conferences such as FCRC, and so on. It
is now time to elect a new committee. As the secretary of the Steering
Committee I write you to call for nominations. The election will be conducted
in roughly the same manner as before, according to the following procedure: (1) Any member of the
community may nominate any other member by sending email directly to me by the
deadline--see below. Nominations of past and current committee members are
allowed, with one exception: since I am conducting the election, I
cannot be nominated. It is not necessary to check with those whom you
nominate; after nominations have been received, I will contact those nominated
and ask them if they are willing to serve. (2) I will then prepare the
list of candidates whom the community can vote for. This list will consist of the
15 most nominated persons; in case of ties the number of candidates on the list
may deviate slightly. The list will be circulated
via compgeom-announce, and the community will be asked to vote for five
candidates from the list. The five with the most votes will then become the new
Steering Committee. It will be up to them to select a Chair and otherwise
organize themselves. The new Steering Committee
will again serve for three years. To
nominate someone, send email to
mdberg@win.tue.nl with Subject: "CG
Nomination" before Thursday July 6, 2006. We look forward to hearing from
you! Pankaj Agarwal (chair) Ferran Hurtado Joe Mitchell Jack Snoeyink |
