Shape Modeling International 2007
Shape Modeling International (SMI) provides a forum for the dissemination of new computational techniques for modeling and processing digital representations of shapes and their properties to a community of academic and industrial experts across a wide range of areas. In 2001, SMI has merged with the Implicit Surface Workshop and is now run as an annual event alternating between Asia, Europe and America.

Papers submissions are encouraged in the following and related topics:
  • Shape Acquisition & Reconstruction
  • Topological Modeling of Shapes
  • Shape Representations
  • Shape Analysis & Shape Statistics
  • Shape Recognition & Classification
  • Shape Matching & Retrieval
  • Geometry Processing
  • Uncertainty Modeling & Visualization
  • Smoothing & Denoising
  • Compression, Simplification & Multiresolution
  • Progressive transmission & streaming
  • Deformations & Morphing
  • Dynamic Shapes & Animation

In conjunction with SMI'07, the Network of Excellence AIM@SHAPE is organizing SHREC - 3D Shape Retrieval Contest, whose general objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of 3D-shape retrieval algorithms. The evaluation results of the first contest were presented during the SMI'06 conference and are available at http://www.aimatshape.net/event/SHREC. Instructions on how to participate will be posted at the same website.
