[compgeom-announce] Stony Brook Workshop on Computational and Conformal Geometry

We would like to draw your attention to a workshop on computational and
conformal geometry at Stony Brook, NY on April 20-22 (Friday-Sunday) funded
by an NSF grant on the interactions of mathematics and computer science.
The organizers are Chris Bishop (Stony Brook) and Stephen Vavasis
(Waterloo). The list of speakers includes

David Mumford Joe Mitchell
Tobin Driscoll Marshall Bern
Don Marshall Jack Snoeyink
Ilya Binder David Hamilton
Alan Saafeld Ken Stephenson
David Gu Chris Bishop
Vladimir Markovic Lehel Banjai

The topics represented by the speakers include circle packings,
computational geometry, meshing, cartography, pattern recognition,
theoretical and numerical conformal mappings, quasiconformal mappings,
Riemann surfaces and hyperbolic geometry.

Roughly, the speakers are drawn one third each from pure mathematics,
applied mathematics and computer science. All speakers have been encouraged
to give expository talks which emphasize open problems with the idea of
fostering new collaborations between these areas.

There is no registration fee, but please let us know by email
(ccg2007@math.sunysb.edu) if you are interested in coming to any talks, so
we have a rough idea of how many people to expect.

Titles, abstracts and a schedule will be posted on

     www.math.sunysb.edu/~ccg2007

This page also contain some information on local hotels and transportation.
