[compgeom-announce] SoCG business meeting follow-up - the Computational Geometry Discussion Forum

To all members of the Computational Geometry community:

As announced in a previous message ("minutes from the SoCG meeting") from the chair of the SoCG steering committee, Guenter Rote, a blog has been set up as a discussion forum for the issues raised at the SoCG business meeting in Gyeongju, Korea, on June 5, 2007.  Here it is:

This forum is open to the entire Computational Geometry community, and is meant to address two problems which were on the agenda of the meeting: "how to broaden the scope of SoCG" and "how to improve the quality of the review process". It is moderated by Ileana Streinu (istreinu"at" smith "dot" edu). The initial postings on the blog are derived from the open discussion at the SoCG meeting in Gyeongju, Korea, and from conversations with members of the community. Further topics may be added later: please send them to the moderator. A mechanism for voting will be added soon. There are at least two controversial issues to be publicly addressed: changing the review system to double-blind review, and adding a rebuttal period.

The entire Computational Geometry community is invited to join the discussion by posting comments, suggesting new related topics for discussion and (ultimately) by voting.
