[compgeom-announce] DEADLINE APPROACHING: MADALGO PhD Student Positions

MADALGO, Center for MAssive Data ALGOrithmics, is a basic research
center funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. The center is
located at the Department of Computer Science, University of Aarhus,
Denmark, but also includes researchers at CSAIL, Massachusetts Institute
of Technology, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and at Frankfurt
University. The center covers all areas of the design, analysis and
implementation of algorithms and data structures for processing massive
data (interpreted broadly to cover computations where data is large
compared to the computational resources), but focus is mainly
be on I/O-efficient, cache-oblivious and streaming algorithms. See
www.madalgo.au.dk for more information.

Starting in February 2009 or later several PhD student positions are
available at MADALGO under the supervision of Professor Lars Arge
(www.madalgo.au.dk/~large) and Associate Professor Gerth S. Brodal
(www.madalgo.au.dk/~gerth). The positions are administered through the
BRICS International PhD School (www.brics.dk) and include full tuition
waiver and a very competitive scholarship. Applications are welcomed
from students with at least three years of full-time study by February
2009. Students with a strong background in the design and analysis of
algorithms will be preferred.

For further information contact Center Director, Professor Lars Arge at
large@madalgo.au.dk.

Applicants should apply using the BRICS PhD school application form
accessible from www.madalgo.au.dk.

To be assured of full consideration, applications must arrive by
November 1, 2008. Applications will be considered until the positions
are filled.
